搭乘A號列車

今天是美國爵士樂壇的搖擺之王艾靈頓公爵（Duke Ellington）110歲冥誕，紐約剛剛訂定這一天為「艾靈頓日」。為了這個紀念日，曼哈頓125街和聖尼可拉斯大道的地鐵站安排了一列1939年次古董A號列車，於艾靈頓公爵經典名曲〈搭乘A號列車〉（Take the A Train）的演奏中開動，在紐約遊行一天。

〈搭乘A號列車〉的創作者是艾靈頓公爵的演奏搭檔Billy Strayhorn。有一天，Billy Strayhorn要來紐約演奏，艾靈頓公爵告訴他：「到了紐約就要搭乘A號列車來樂團報到。」

Billy Strayhorn擷下那句話，寫下了一首不朽爵士名曲。
